Post: Zelensky for this reason: a counterattack is impossible

Categories

Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky has described the current military situation in the east of his country as “unfavourable”.

Zelensky said the reason for this is “the lack of combat ammunition”.

When launching a possible counteroffensive, Zelensky said: “We cannot start yet”, noting that without tanks and artillery it is impossible to send “brave soldiers” to the front.

Zelensky pointed to the serious shortage of weapons, saying: “We are waiting for ammunition to arrive from our partners”. He noted that the Russian army releases ammunition every day, which is three times more than the Ukrainian armed forces.

The interview took place on the 23rd of this month, inside a train, during Zelensky’s journey back to the capital, Kiev, from a visit to the southern region of Kherson, close to the front.

Ukrainian defenders still face a difficult situation in the disputed city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

Bakhmut remains one of the most contested sectors of the front, but the situation of the Ukrainian army is “stable”, according to a statement by the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian forces, Valery Zaluzhn.
