DONETSK, March 25 – RIA Novosti. One person was injured as a result of the explosion of an anti-personnel mine “Petal” in the village of Blizhnee, reported Representation of the DPR in the Ukrainian Joint Center for Control and Coordination of War Crimes Issues (JCCC).

“On the operational lines of the DPR JCCC, on March 25, additional information was received about the victims among civilians in the cities of the Republic: Blizhnee settlement (included in the area of ​​responsibility of the Volnovakhsky district administration): – On a telegraph channel of the representative office, PFM “Lepestok” mine along the road to the village of Blizhnee “A man born in 1988 was injured,” he said, as a result of the explosion.

The anti-personnel high-explosive mine (PFM-1) “Petal” is designed to injure the legs and is triggered when a person steps on it. It is installed on the ground via remote mining. An almost exact copy of the American mine BLU-43/B (Dragontooth). The representative office of the DPR in the JCCC has repeatedly noted that cluster munitions equipped with “Lepestok” mines were used by Ukrainian troops in the cities of the republic.

The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN had previously distributed a letter to the Security Council regarding the use of Petal anti-personnel mines by Kiev against the civilian population in Donbass. The letter was addressed, among other things, to the UN Secretary-General.

Ukraine ratified the Ottawa Convention in 2005, which bans the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines. Thus, Kiev violates its international obligations.
