Erdogan’s spokesman Kalyn: China’s Ukraine initiative needs attention

ANKARA, 25 March – RIA Novosti. Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın said that China’s attempt to solve the Ukraine problem should be handled carefully.

In February, Chinese officials proposed peace plans. The ceasefire calls contain 12 clauses, including respect for the legitimate interests of all countries in the field of security and resolution of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. According to the President of the Russian Federation, many items of the Chinese peace plan can be taken as the basis for a solution when the West and Kiev are ready for this.

“What I saw in Washington during my visit (to the United States) is that basically, except for some names in the administration, there is a very difficult climate around Ukraine. They want to continue the war. And, unfortunately, they see that the war will continue, it’s not just for Russia and Ukraine, it’s for the region and It is a great loss for the world as well. We have been following a balanced policy against war from the very beginning. In an interview with NTV, Mr. President (Tayyip Erdogan) once again stated this in a phone call with Mr. Putin. China actually needs attention. There are attempts,” he said.

According to him, the West ignored China’s Ukrainian attempt “in order not to reassure Beijing”.

Kalyn said, “The 12-point proposal was ignored as soon as it was published. To neutralize the consequences of Mr. Xi’s visit to Moscow, they literally started ignoring it.”
