Zimbabwe Deputy Information Minister Mangwana: Russian cuisine restaurant should open in Harare
HARARE, 26 March – RIA Novosti. Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Telecommunications Nick Mangwana said in an interview with RIA Novosti that a Russian cuisine restaurant should be opened in Zimbabwe as Russian culture is popular in this African country.
“We ask ourselves: Why are there still no Russian restaurants in Harare? There are Chinese, Indians, but not Russians. But a Russian should open it, not a Zimbabwean. Just to be real. The investor is in such a project,” he said. stressed that gastronomy is an important “soft power” tool.
Mangwana also said that in Zimbabwe, sausages are called Russian.
“The fashion for sausages in South Africa came from Germany. I don’t know why we call sausages Russian, but it’s true,” he said.
The deputy minister also noted that Zimbabwean restaurants serve Kiev-style cutlets.
