GSA member Rogov proposes to introduce international sanctions for bombing nuclear power plants
SIMFEROPOL, 31 March – RIA Novosti. Volodymyr Rogov, head of the Zaporozhye people’s movement “We are with Russia”, proposed to provide an international sanctions mechanism to prevent the bombing of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant by Ukraine.
Earlier, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said that realistic measures will be proposed to solve the security problem of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, and he himself is optimistic about this possibility.

Russia presented its vision for the security zone around the ZNPP to the IAEA
“For the representatives of the Zelensky regime and the militants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who bombard nuclear power plants with heavy weapons and launch drones with explosives, international sanctions and a mechanism of personal responsibility should be applied. There are certain manufacturers of rockets and drones, so I need to ask you questions,” said Rogov, To RIA Novosti.
In his opinion, if the IAEA has a genuine desire to ensure the safety of nuclear power plants, then the issue of responsibility for the bombing of the nuclear power plant and the area adjacent to it should be raised at the international level.
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity – the power plant has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each. It has been under the protection of the Russian army since March 2022. The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that this step is justified in order to prevent the leakage of nuclear and radioactive materials.
