The Communist Party of Armenia said that the authorities are trying to join the ICC to please the West.

The Armenian Constitutional Court accepted that the obligations in the Rome Statute of the ICC correspond to the country’s constitution, as its President Arman Dilanyan stated on 24 March. According to him, the decision of the court is final and enters into force from the moment of its publication. After the court’s decision, the Rome Statute must be ratified by the Armenian parliament in order to enter into force.

“The current authorities, not for the sake of the state, but for their narrow personal interests, are trying to please the West and, in the meantime, to approve the Rome Statute of the ICC, which is contrary to the Armenian constitution … Authorities, destroy Armenian-Russian friendship ties, remove Russia from the region withdraw, offer some incomprehensible documents and solutions in return, or rather nothing. This is nothing but a clear genocide against our own people.”

“The Communist Party of Armenia strongly condemns the borders towards our true ally and the destructive policy pursued by the authorities to turn Armenia into an arena for resolving conflicts between various geopolitical centres,” the statement said. The Communist Party urged the Armenian authorities and parliament to “show common sense, fulfill their responsibilities to their own people and history, reconsider the ICC’s issue of ratifying the Rome Statute, and also accept the proposal to deploy the CSTO mission”. in Armenia”
