Çavuşoğlu: Russia announced the possibility of meeting foreign ministers of Turkey, Syria and Iran in May

ANKARA, 13 April – RIA Novosti. Moscow informed Ankara of the possibility of a meeting between the foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia, Syria and Iran at the beginning of May, the process of concretization of history continues, reported Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, Çavuşoğlu had announced that this meeting could be held in early May.

In an interview with Habertürk, Çavuşoğlu said, “We received a notification from the Russian side that this meeting could be held in early May. The date-setting process continues. We will go and take part after the date is determined.” TV channel.

According to him, Ankara does not accept the “prerequisites” in the normalization process with Syria, the aim is to revive the political process.

Damascus has repeatedly described the presence of Turkish forces conducting operations against Kurdish formations in the Syrian border region as illegal and urged Ankara to withdraw its troops. Formations of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF), based on Kurdish YPG self-defense units with the support of the US military, control most of Syria’s Hasakah and Raqqa provinces and some settlements. in the provinces of Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor. Most of the neighborhoods, especially in the cities of Haseke and Qamishli, are under their control. Official Damascus does not recognize an autonomous administration in northeastern Syria.
