UN Secretary-General Guterres called for dialogue with the parties to the conflict in Sudan.
UN, April 16 – RIA Novosti. UN Secretary-General António Guterres met with the leaders of the parties to the conflict in Sudan – Abdel Fattah Burhan, the head of the country’s sovereign council and commander of the Armed Forces, and the deputy chairman and commander of the sovereign council. The official representative of Secretary-General Stefan Dujarric said that the rapid reaction force, Mohammed Daglo, urged to stop the violence and return to dialogue.
It was noted that the UN Secretary-General also offered assistance to the parties in restoring security and ending the conflict.
On Saturday, Guterres urged the leaders of the Rapid Reaction Force and the Sudanese Armed Forces to immediately end the conflict, maintain calm and engage in dialogue to resolve the current crisis.
According to Dujarric, Guterres is in contact with the leaders of the region and reaffirms the UN’s readiness to support the Sudanese people in their efforts to restore the democratic transition of power.
