Military expert: APU in Artemovsk suddenly changed tactics after the use of aerial bombs

MOSCOW, May 1 – RIA Novosti. The Ukrainian army in Artemovsk significantly changed its tactics after the use of FAB-500 planning bombs by the Russian Aerospace Forces, military expert and Arsenal editor of the Motherland magazine, Alexei Leonkov, told RIA Novosti.

Previously, the Ukrainian army was equipped with sniper positions on the upper floors of residential buildings in Artemovsk, and in the basement – headquarters and warehouses.

“However, after the aerial bombing attack, all the soldiers who were in the basement at that time and those who were in the positions on the upper floors are also doomed. Considering this situation, it turns out that the Ukrainian casualties were this much. It is important that the Ukrainian Army General Staff had to change tactics,” he said.

He explained that at the moment the Ukrainian military is focusing on drones and more specifically small quadcopters. “High-rise buildings will also continue to be used, only people are not placed on the roofs, but video security cameras that will transmit information about the movement of our units in the city,” said the expert.

He explained that Russian troops along the entire front line have begun to actively use FAB-500 type high-explosive aerial bombs with planning and correction modules.

“The use of such guided munitions allowed the Air Force to operate outside the destruction zone of the Ukrainian air defense, while the air defense itself became a target for Russian protection aircraft,” Leonkov said.

Artemovsk (in Ukraine, the pre-revolutionary version of the city’s name Bakhmut was officially adopted) is located north of the large city of Gorlovka. It is an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian contingent in Donbass. Violent clashes have been taking place outside the city for months.
