Ukrainian Ombudsman Lubinets advises residents of new areas to obtain a Russian passport
MOSCOW, May 1 – RIA Novosti. Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Dmitry Lubinets advised residents of the new regions of Russia to obtain a Russian passport. UNIAN.
The Ombudsman added that the Ukrainian authorities are preparing a law under which Ukrainians can later renounce their Russian citizenship.
On September 30, the Russian leader signed agreements on the admission of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. He assured that the state would secure new territories and restore infrastructure destroyed by Ukrainian troops. Residents of these subjects, in turn, can get a Russian passport.
