The militants of the national “Azov” battalion used American collimator sights in Mariupol
MARIUPOL, May 27 – RIA Novosti. In the dungeon of the Azovstal industrial zone, among the burned and broken weapons and ammunition of the Azov battalion, they found an American-made L3 EOTech collimator sight, RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
In the immediate vicinity of the location of this device were elements of military uniform with the symbols of the Azov Battalion, namely a khaki headdress with the logo of the nationalist movement.
The US has been supplying Ukrainian troops with weapons and military equipment for years, but these were not intended for nationalist formations. In 2015, Congress passed an amendment banning funding neo-Nazis from Azov. In response to criticism of deliveries to the conflict zone, Washington stated that American weapons do not end in national battalions.
The device found was developed by the American company EOTech. In 1995, this company pioneered the creation of collimator sights for compact small arms. EOTech is now the Pentagon’s official partner and supplier of military sighting systems.
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a military operation to navy and demilitarize Ukraine. Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime.” According to the Ministry of Defense, at the end of March, the Russian army completed the main tasks of the first stage – significantly reducing the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the division was called the liberation of Donbass.
