Media: Rocket found in Poland may have been launched from a Russian plane

According to RMF FM, the Polish side expects to receive materials from the USA, which will make it possible to determine where the rocket came from, which is in the forest near Bydgoszcz.

“It’s also about figuring out which route it was traveling on and exactly when it happened. It’s possible that the American infrastructure recorded this object,” the message says.

On 27 April, Polish authorities reported that parts of an “unidentified airborne military installation” were found near the village of Zamost, about 15 kilometers from Bydgoszcz. Radio station RMF FM learned that it was an air-to-ground missile with Russian inscriptions. At the same time, RMF FM, citing its own sources, reported that the “military air object” was most likely a target launched by the Polish military during the exercises.

Citing sources in the army, the Onet portal also reported that it could be a Russian missile launched from a Russian plane from Belarusian territory. It is assumed that we are talking about the Kh-55 aircraft cruise missile.

Last week, Tomasz Petrovsky, the operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces, spoke at a briefing about the origin of the rocket. He then talked about an incident that occurred in Polish airspace on December 16 last year. According to him, this required the use of planes and search and rescue helicopters “trying to find what the systems had fixed” in collaboration with foreign allies, but harsh atmospheric conditions prevented this.

As Petrovsky assures, there was no explosion at the scene, no one was injured. Eyewitnesses reported a large crater on the ground. According to local media reports, the wreckage was found by a woman riding a horse on Tuesday, which law enforcement took up on Wednesday, but the media only learned of the incident on Thursday. The Polish military argues that the situation does not threaten the safety of citizens.

In Bydgoszcz there are Military Aviation Factory No. 2 and “Belma” Electromechanical Products Factory. The NATO Joint Forces Training Center is also located here.
