Zelensky: Some NATO countries are so afraid of Russia that they do not want to accept Ukraine into the alliance
MOSCOW, June 3 – RIA Novosti. Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with a newspaper The Wall Street Gazette Stating that some NATO countries are so afraid of Russia and do not want Ukraine to join the alliance, he noted that he does not know whether it would make sense to attend the summit to be held in Vilnius in July if Kiev does not receive any signal about its status. .
“I believe that some NATO countries are so afraid of Russia that they do not want to accept Ukraine into the alliance. I believe that if it is not marked in Vilnius and a sign is given to us, there is no point for Ukraine to participate in this summit,” he said.
When Zelensky was asked whether he believed that Ukraine would receive such a signal, he admitted that he did not know.
At the end of September 2022, Zelensky announced that Ukraine has applied to join NATO on an accelerated basis. Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the President of the United States for Homeland Security, later stated that such a procedure was untimely. According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine will not be satisfied with the other decisions of the NATO summit to be held in Vilnius, apart from the invitation to join the alliance.
