Turkey’s new Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz pledges to fight inflation
ISTANBUL, 5 June – RIA Novosti. Turkey’s new vice president, Cevdet Yılmaz, said on Monday that officials are focusing on fighting inflation and rebuilding 11 provinces in the country’s southeast that were hit by the February 6 earthquake.
The handover ceremony to Yılmaz was held on Monday by former Vice President Fuat Oktay.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) reported that annual inflation in Turkey was 39.59 percent in May. According to the Bureau, the biggest increase of the year – almost 70% – was recorded in the average check-up for dining out and hotel stays, as well as healthcare.
The Independent Inflation Analysis Group (ENAG), on the other hand, states that the figure is 109%.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey estimates that inflation will reach 22.3% by the end of the year.
