Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Nebenzia described the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station as a terrible crime of Kiev.
UN, 6 June – RIA Novosti. In his speech at the UN Security Council meeting, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, said that Moscow is fully responsible for the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant in Kiev and the tragedy surrounded by “Western bosses” who filled it with guns.
“We are proceeding from the premise that the Kiev regime and the Western bosses who pumped weapons into it take full responsibility for the tragedy that ensued,” Nebenzya said.

As the Russian diplomat added, the Kiev sabotage had two purposes: to draw as much attention as possible to the regrouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and also to cause maximum human damage to the population in the areas adjacent to the HEPP.
“We regret that our calls to the Secretary-General (UN) to do everything possible to prevent this heinous crime were not duly heeded,” the permanent representative said.
On Tuesday night, the shelling of the Kiev army led to the destruction of the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The blow probably came from the Alder MLRS. According to Vladimir Leontiev, head of administration of the Novokakhovsk urban district, the valves in the dam were destroyed, but the dam itself was not damaged.

Ukrainian soldiers launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station on Tuesday night. Presumably, the bombardment was carried out from the MLRS “Alder”.

The valves on the dam burst, but the dam itself was not damaged. Irregular water discharge started.

On Novaya Kakhovka, the water rose by ten meters, on Dnepryan – eight meters, on Korsunka – 5.3 meters. This level will last approximately 72 hours.

14 settlements with approximately 22 thousand people may fall into the possible flood zone.

On the territory of the Novokakhovka urban district, a local emergency regime was introduced.

“Look at what’s happening outside the window: the city (Novaya Kakhovka. – Approx. ed.) flooded,” the regional head Vladimir Leontyev said on television.

The authorities of the Kherson district are preparing the evacuation of the population in the Novokahovsky, Golopristansky and Aleshkinsky districts.

As for the HEPP, according to Vladimir Leontiev, it is impossible to repair it. The station will need to be rebuilt.

After the dam collapsed, England filed a criminal case. Investigators must find the details of what happened and determine the amount of damage.

During the day in Novaya Kakhovka the water level rose by almost 11 meters, the maximum level can reach 12. There are evacuations of residents of three districts – Novokahovsky, Golopristansky and Aleshkinsky.
According to the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the Kiev regime was trying to deprive Crimea of water by blowing up the power plant. He also linked these criminal acts with the failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the counteroffensive.
