MELITOPOL, 9 August – RIA Novosti. It was reported to RIA Novosti that a Ukrainian drone flying towards the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Energodar was stopped at Russian electrical structures.
“Today, a UAV belonging to the Ukrainian formations was seen in the sky over Energodar advancing towards the ZNPP. With the dexterous movements of our employees, the device was stopped and lowered to the ground. The investigation revealed that this UAV was a blow. UAV,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
Probably, the target of the enemy was the ZNPP zone, which was described in the power structures.
The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, near the city of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of number of units and installed capacity – the station has six power units, each with a capacity of one gigawatt.
Rogov said that reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are operating in the ZNPP region.
It has been under the protection of the Russian army since March last year. The State Department stressed that this step is necessary to prevent leaks of nuclear and radioactive material.
At the same time, Ukrainian troops continue to regularly attack Energodar and the territory of the ZNPP adjacent to the city. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that in this way Kiev is trying to create the appearance of a nuclear disaster threat.
