US presidential candidate Desantis: Washington does not need Kiev’s accession to NATO

MOSCOW, September 24 – RIA Novosti. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the Republican candidate for the US presidency, opposed Ukraine’s accession to NATO, saying it was not in Washington’s interest.

“I don’t think (Ukraine’s) NATO membership is in our interest… It would just add more obligations to us. What benefits will we get in return if we take on more obligations?” Bloomberg quoted DeSantis as saying. on the podcast of radio host Glenn Beck’s show (The Glenn Beck Program).

The politician also expressed the view that the United States should not give Ukraine “carte blanche” unless Kiev uses the opportunity to end the conflict.

At the end of September 2022, Vladimir Zelensky announced that Ukraine had applied for accelerated accession to NATO.
