Kherson Ministry of Education: Ukrainian language and literature will be preserved in schools

YALTA, June 7 – RIA Novosti. If the region joins the Russian Federation, Ukrainian language and literature will be preserved in the curriculums of the Kherson region, knowledgeable Tatyana Kuzmich, head of the Kherson district education department.

Earlier, the deputy head of the military-civil administration of the region, Kirill Stremousov, told RIA Novosti that the Russian language, along with Ukrainian, will receive the status of a state language in the Kherson region liberated from Ukrainian nationalists.

On Tuesday, in the framework of the plenary session of the XV International Festival of the “Great Russian Word” held in Yalta, Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea – President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov asked the Permanent Representative of Russia Georgy Muradov. The Ukrainian language would be preserved as the official language in the Kherson region.

Kuzmich replied, “I don’t think so in this region. But we will keep the Ukrainian language and Ukrainian literature in the curriculum.”

Muradov, on the other hand, reminded that the Ukrainian people live in the region and called for this issue to be taken seriously.

“What are we going to call them? That you won’t learn your language?” he took note.

During the special operation, the Russian army took control of the Kherson region in the south of Ukraine and the Azov part of the Zaporozhye region. Civil-military administrations were established in the regions, and Russian television channels and radio stations began broadcasting. The liberated territories announced plans to become subjects of the Russian Federation.
