Three people were injured when an explosive-laden drone crashed in a suburb of Erbil.
CAIRO, 9 June – RIA Novosti. Three people were injured when an explosive-laden unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in the suburbs of Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan.
Earlier, the Kurdish television channel Rudaw reported that the highway between Erbil and the resort town of Salah al-Din was fired by rockets.
“Today, an explosive device fell on the main highway between Erbil and the summer resort Salah al-Din, injuring three citizens,” the security service said in a statement. Said.
According to Al Arabia TV channel, the drone crashed in Erbil, five kilometers from the US Consulate, which is under construction.
In March of this year, the same area of Erbil opened fire from Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces) claimed responsibility for the rocket attack and said it managed to hit Israel’s secret bases in Kurdistan. However, local officials reported that there was no Israeli base there and that the rockets had hit a residential area, specifically where a new US consulate complex was being built.
Previously, a number of infrastructure facilities on the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan and its capital, Erbil, were repeatedly attacked by rockets as well as drones.
