Navy Commander Evmenov says nuclear submarines are a priority for the fleet
MOSCOW, 29 November / Radio Sputnik. Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov said that the nuclear submarine component of the submarine force is the basis of guaranteed state security in sea and ocean directions.
On Wednesday, he attended the launching ceremony of the Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine (project Yasen-M) at Sevmash in Severodvinsk. Evmenov allowed the ship to start moving from the boathouse. The commander of the nuclear submarine “Arkhangelsk”, captain of the 1st rank Alexander Gladkov, traditionally broke a bottle of champagne over the hull of the submarine.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the nuclear submarines of this series were designed by the Malakhit design bureau and are unique, the latest Russian developments in the field of naval weapons.
According to Sevmash General Director Mikhail Budnichenko, Arkhangelsk is waiting for the so-called completion work on the water. It will then be lowered into the White Sea for sea and state trials.
Three submarines of the Yasen-M project are currently in service in the Russian fleet: nuclear submarines Severodvinsk, Kazan and Novosibirsk.
