Peskov: Europe loses competitiveness by buying from others at exorbitant prices

MOSCOW, November 29 – RIA Novosti. Russian Presidential Press Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Europe could live without Russia, but it lost its competitiveness by buying from others at exorbitant prices.

It was previously reported in the media that Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Josef Sikela confirmed that the Czech Republic has asked the EU authorities to make an exception to ban the import of Russian steel until 2028, because the country cannot do without these materials.

“Hypothetically speaking, Europe could do without Russia, but then Europe would lose its competitiveness, because then it would have to buy the same goods from other countries, but at exorbitant prices, whether it be energy resources or something else. And in fact, then Peskov, responding to the journalists’ question that, according to some experts, EU countries bought half of the oil, despite the sanctions regime, said: “It turns out that the European industry, certain producers and the like have fallen into a pre-bankruptcy state.” Russia’s liquefied gas and Czech minister confirmed reports that requests for Russian steel had been made to EU officials.

“So yes, our products are still popular and purchased, including in European countries,” he added.
