Zelensky did not support the petition allowing men between the ages of 18 and 60 to leave Ukraine
MOSCOW, June 11 – RIA Novosti. Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not support the petition asking him to lift the ban on leaving Ukraine for men aged 18 to 60, the corresponding response published on its website.
Men between the ages of 18 and 60 have been banned from leaving Ukraine since February 24, as martial law was declared in the background of Russia’s special demilitarization operation.
Since the beginning of June, about 30 petitions have been submitted to Zelensky’s website for the complete or partial lifting of the ban on men leaving Ukraine. The petitions were submitted by different categories of citizens with different arguments. Some complain about low wages in Ukraine and want men who support families to be allowed to leave. Others are worried about students studying abroad. There are also demands for entrepreneurs and drivers to be given the opportunity to travel abroad.
The petition, which noted that many men, especially those who are the sole breadwinners of their families, could not leave the country to work and their relatives were left without money, received 25,000 votes to be considered. It is also emphasized that people “who can and want to help Ukraine” do not come to the country because then they cannot leave and “can help where they are active”.
In response to the petition, Zelensky pointed out that, according to the law, under conditions of martial law or a state of emergency, the constitutional right of Ukrainian citizens to leave the country’s territory can be limited “with an indication of their duration”. limitations.”
“The lifting of these restrictions is expected to take place after the end of the legal martial law regime,” Zelensky said.
Martial law in Ukraine was extended until August 23, in accordance with the Verkhovna Rada decision.
