ISTANBUL, February 29 – RIA Novosti. Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said Israel committed a new crime against humanity by killing Palestinians while distributing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian media reported that Israel launched an attack on Al-Rashid Street in Western Gaza City on February 29. The region’s health ministry said at least 112 people were killed and 760 injured as a result of Israeli shelling. The Israeli military said Gazans rushed to steal trucks carrying humanitarian aid and dozens of people were injured in the resulting stampede. The army later said dozens of Gazans were crushed to death under the wheels of trucks.

“Israel committed another crime against humanity by killing Palestinians in Nabulsi Square… The fact that Israel, which used hunger as a weapon of war in Gaza, is now attacking innocent civilians in need of life-saving aid reveals Israel’s intention to destroy everything. Palestinian population,” says the Turkish Foreign Ministry statement obtained by RIA Novosti.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Israel must immediately stop its military operation in Gaza, but the Israeli government has neither the common sense nor the conscience to make this decision.”

The State Department noted that the world must understand that the atrocities in Gaza “are about to turn into a global disaster” and that its consequences will be felt beyond the region.

“In this context, we call on everyone who can influence the Israeli government to stop the ongoing violence in Gaza,” the ministry said.
