Former Moldovan President Dodon described the extension of the state of emergency as a madhouse.

KISINAU, 23 June – RIA Novosti. Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon told RIA Novosti that the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity decided to prolong the state of emergency in the country with a desire to hide something, because a state of emergency can only be served in a madhouse.

The Moldovan Parliament, at its meeting on Thursday, decided to extend the state of emergency for another 45 days from 24 June due to the situation in Ukraine.

“A state of emergency is only possible in a madhouse so often. How can it come up so often? Now I’m calling out to the ruling party – you have a parliamentary majority, 63 deputies, you can meet at any time. Meetings in the office of (president) Maia Sandu, as expected “You can do it and the state of emergency is launched to hide something,” he said.

According to him, such behavior of the authorities is not normal. The former president is confident that the government will be responsible for all decisions made during the state of emergency and for “squandering the budget”.

Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa, who applied to the Parliament for the extension of the state of emergency, noted that the Emergency Commission could continue to take emergency decisions if necessary. The head of the cabinet believes that such an approach has already justified itself when the authorities have to deal with a large influx of refugees from Ukraine. In addition, the prime minister described the need for a state of emergency as an energy crisis, as the country must reach an agreement on the purchase of electricity on a monthly basis and look for alternative gas supply routes if Gazprom stops them.

The opposition was absolutely against such a decision. Bloc of Communists and Socialists deputies said the authorities needed a state of emergency because they feared mass protests by disgruntled citizens.
