American Jaws failed to break the record for eating 63 hot dogs in 10 minutes

NEW YORK, 4 July – RIA Novosti. American Joey “Jaws” Chestnut failed to break his own world record in a hot dog eating contest, swallowing just 63 in 10 minutes.

He ate 76 hot dogs last year. During the annual contest, this time in New York, an eco-activist jumped onto the scene and pushed the already hot dog-eating Chestnut. The record holder was left in debt and ousted a social activist and spent some time on it.

The competition was broadcast by the TV channel. ESPN. The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is held annually in New York on the 4th of July, the Independence Day of the United States. The first hot dog eating contest was held in 1916, when Irishman Jim Mullen ate 13 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Allegedly, he did so with a dare. Since then, the competition has not only been held during the Second World War.

Chestnut failed to break the 76 sausage record he set in 2021. He was the winner of the competition in 2007, 2009, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Competitors soaked the rolls with water in cardboard cups separately from the sausages, squeezed the crumb to take up less space and sent it to the mouth. Sausages were consumed separately. Chestnut swallowed two sausages at once. Hot dogs had no ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard. It took three jaw movements for Chestnut to eat a sausage.

In 2011, as the competition began to gain popularity among women, the organizers decided to hold a separate tournament for women.
