Post: Brazil reports two citizens dead in Ukraine

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on 1 July that two of its citizens died in Ukraine.

RIO DE JANEIRO, 7 July – RIA Novosti. Speaking to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the South American country, RIA Novosti said that two Brazilian citizens lost their lives during the conflict in Ukraine on 1 July.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, through the Brazilian Embassy in Kiev, that on July 1, two Brazilian citizens died on Ukrainian soil as a result of the conflict in that country,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an email.

The ministry said that under Brazilian law, data on the dead cannot be released without the consent of their families.

Russia launched a military operation against Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime.”

For this, according to him, “the disarming and gentrification of Ukraine” is planned in order to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for “bloodly crimes against civilians” in the Donbass.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces attack only the military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops, and as of March 25 they have completed the main tasks of the first stage – they have significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was called the liberation of Donbass.
