Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa flew from Maldives to Singapore

“The Sri Lankan President has left the Maldives,” the agency said in a statement.
Maldivian government officials said Rajapaksa, on condition of anonymity, boarded a Saudi Airlines flight that would take him to Singapore and then to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
The Daily Mirror reported that Rajapaksa, along with his wife and two security guards, flew from the Maldives on a Saudi Airlines plane. As noted, the plane was escorted by special forces of the Maldivian Defense Forces.
Previously, Rajapaksa had refused to travel to Singapore, where he was promised asylum on a scheduled flight with Singapore Airlines for safety reasons.
