SCMP: Putin has the support of developing countries and foils the Western plans for Ukraine

MOSCOW, July 16 – RIA Novosti. Calls from the West to unite against Russia were not answered elsewhere in the world, author Hong Kong edition of the South China Morning Post.

According to Mohamed Zishan, the author of the article, Vladimir Putin wisely managed to enlist the support of developing countries and break the Ukrainian program of the West.

Far from being isolated, the Russian leader has been in contact with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, recently ousted Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and Senegalese President Maki Sall, who is also African Union president.

The observer added that despite Western representatives’ attempts to avoid Sergey Lavrov at the G20 meeting, the head of the Russian foreign policy department was caught having a “candid conversation” with colleagues from China, India, Indonesia, Brazil, Turkey and Argentina.

After Russia’s special military operation to demilitarize and demilitarize Ukraine, the West increased its sanctions pressure on Moscow. Some countries announced the freeze of Russian assets, many brands left Russia. The European Union has implemented six sanctions packages, including an embargo on Russian coal and oil. However, this became a problem for the West itself, causing a sharp rise in inflation and the prices of food and gasoline.

The Kremlin described the restrictions as an unprecedented economic warfare and took retaliatory measures by banning foreign investors from withdrawing money from the Russian financial system and converting gas payments into rubles. As Vladimir Putin has stated, the policy of controlling and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and the sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. However, he is confident that current events draw a line under the West’s global dominance in both politics and economics.
