Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN Kislytsya: Junction in Brighton Beach named Ukrainian Road
UN, 18 July – RIA Novosti. The New York City Council has decided to name the intersection of Brighton Beach and Coney Island streets in Brooklyn the Ukraine Road. knowledgeable Serhiy Kislytsya, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN.
“On July 14, New York City Council approved a bill to rename Brighton Beach Boulevard and Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn to Ukraine Road,” Kislytsya wrote on Twitter, noting that this is a crossroads.
The Brighton Beach district of New York is populated mainly by immigrants from the Soviet Union and is famous for restaurants of Russian cuisine and cuisine of the peoples of the CIS countries. On the streets of Brighton, Russian is heard more often than English conversations. Ukrainians make up a significant part of the local community.
