Ministry of National Defense: There is no need to clear mines in the Black Sea for the movement of ships
ISTANBUL, 27 July – RIA Novosti. Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar said that there is no need for mine clearance for ship traffic in the Black Sea at the moment.
“If there is a need for demining, planning will be done as agreed by the parties. However, this is not necessary at this stage.” – Akar said at the official opening ceremony of the grain export coordination center.
On July 22, documents on the lifting of restrictions on the supply of Russian products for export and Russia’s assistance in the export of Ukrainian grain were signed in Istanbul. The agreement, signed by Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN, includes the export of grain, food and fertilizer from Ukraine’s three ports, including Odessa, via the Black Sea.
Akar said the day before that “the first ship carrying grain will soon leave the Ukrainian port”.
