Former First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Nikolai Slyunkov died at the age of 94.
MINSK, August 9 – RIA Novosti. Former head of the Belarusian SSR Nikolai Slyunkov dies reported On the website of the “Communist Party of Belarus” on Tuesday.
Slyunkov was born in a peasant family in the Gomel region, graduated from the Minsk Automotive Technical School of the Belarusian Institute of Agricultural Mechanization. Throughout his career, he was the director of the Minsk Tractor Plant, worked as the first secretary of the Minsk city committee of the Belarusian Communist Party and deputy chairman of the USSR State Planning Committee.
In 1983 – 1987, Slyunkov was the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus. From 1987 to 1990 – Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU.
