Russian tricolor unveiled in downtown Buenos Aires on National Flag Day
BUENOS AIRES, 22 August – RIA Novosti. Argentines and Russians wave the Russian flag in the center of Argentina’s capital.
Protesters gathered in the Recoleta area, one of the most popular places among tourists and locals alike.
“Today, in the face of a difficult international situation, it is more important than ever for our diaspora to come together. We are delighted that Russian Flag Day has become an opportunity to unite our compatriots and organize this wonderful event. It is in one of the most emblematic places in the Argentine capital,” said RIA Novosti. Olga Muratova, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Argentina.
The action was organized by activists of the citizen youth coordination council with the support of the Russian House in Buenos Aires and the Argentine CSORC.
The Day of the State Flag of Russia is celebrated on August 22. It was approved in honor of August 22, 1991, when the historical tricolor was restored in Russia after the failure of the August coup.
On State Flag Day, a flash mob “Russia Unites” was held on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow.
