The U.S. President’s Special Representative for Non-Proliferation, Adam Sheinman, said that the final document of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference, which was not adopted on Friday, was not perfect, but the United States regretted that it could not be accepted. at the conference meeting.

According to him, the text “underestimated the situation in the Zaporozhye NPP.” It also accused Russia of posing a radiological threat to Ukraine and Europe.

“We regret this outcome,” he added.

Prior to that, Andrey Belousov, vice-president of the Russian delegation, said that a number of delegations’ false and politicizing statements about Ukraine prevented consensus on the final document. According to him, individual delegations came to the conference to promote their political principles at all costs.

As Belousov points out, the conference became the political hostage of those who poisoned the debate for four weeks with their politicized, biased, unfounded and deceptive statements regarding Ukraine.
