Dodon calls for the trial of Moldovan President Sandu
KISINAU, 1 September – RIA Novosti. Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon requested sent a corresponding appeal to Veronica Dragalin, head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, to prosecute Maia Sandu, the current president of the republic.
“Today, I sent an appeal to the head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, where I demanded that Maia Sanda be held accountable for abuse of power and control over justice, stating that she failed to appoint 10 judges in time. They’ve been waiting for 150 days,” he said. The former president on Thursday on his Telegram channel.
In his statement, Dodon noted that he listed “some of Sandu’s actions contrary to the law and the status of the President of Moldova”.

Dodon expressed hope that the new head of the Anti-Corruption Attorney’s Office will be guided by the law, not political interests, in his actions.
The country’s former president was detained in late May and charged with illegal enrichment, passive corruption, illegal financing of the party, and treason. He has been under house arrest since May 26. At the request of the prosecutors, the judges extended this measure several times. While the former president stated that he had proof of his innocence through his lawyers, the politician described the actions and detention of law enforcement officers as “a political case woven with white threads”.
Dodon completely denies his guilt and believes the cases against him are for political reasons.
