Polish Defense Minister Blaszczak announced that training was given to Ukrainian sappers.
WARSAW, 8 September – RIA Novosti. Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak said that Poland is training Ukrainian sappers.
Blaszczak met with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Ramstein military base in Germany.
“The cooperation of NATO countries in the training of Ukrainians has been discussed. Of course, we have a Polish offer here, in both NATO and EU formats. At least we are active in training sappers who have a lot of work to do. After meeting with Austin, Blaszczak said that the speech was broadcast by Polish television.
Russia launched a military operation against Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime.”
Russia had previously sent a note to NATO countries for arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that the pumping of weapons into Ukraine from the West does not contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative impact.
