British Prime Minister Truss held his first meeting with French President Macron.

MOSCOW, September 11 – RIA Novosti. In her first phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Liz Truss discussed working together to overcome the energy crisis and cooperation in the defense sector, after a message from the prime minister’s office.

“The leaders agreed on the value of a strong relationship between Britain and France as they work together to overcome the energy crisis and cooperate on security, defense and strategic issues,” the statement said.

As stated in the message, Truss and Macron aim to hold a face-to-face meeting to “discuss these issues” in the near future.

Former British Foreign Secretary Truss was elected chairman of the Conservative Party on Monday, and Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday. Elizabeth instructed him to form a government as the new prime minister.
